Nehalem Bay and Hug Point

Trip #46

Another first for our travel trailer adventures, 10 days in one campsite. Prior to this trip to Nehalem Bay State Park (OR), our longest stay was 7 nights without moving.

Nehalem Bay SP has 265 sites with electric and water, but no sewer. I thought we would have to drag the trailer up to the dump station at least once. Through careful waste water management (and a couple trips to the shower house) we were able to avoid hooking up during our stay.

Good thing because the tongue jack decided to stop working as we set up camp. I was able to fix it. Apparently some corrosion on the switch contacts.

NBSP is just south of Cannon Beach and several other state parks and beaches. I highly recommend Hug Point (see photos).

To the south of our camp was the small towns of Nehalem and Wheeler. Great for antique shopping and eating.

For a great breakfast, visit Wanda’s or Yolk (Manzanita). For a good local dive bar with decent food, go to the Manzanita Light House Pub.
