Fort Stevens State Park

Fort Stevens guarded the mouth of the Columbia River from the Civil War through WWII. You can tour the remnants of this fort and its accompanying museum.

Fort Stevens State Park includes this site and over 4200 acres. It has almost 500 camp sites and miles of beaches. This place is very popular in the summer and should be reserved 6 months ahead. In the winter you should have no problems getting full hookups as a walk-in.

We stayed in late January the past two years and had very few neighbors.

It is famous for the wreck of the Peter Iredale. It is also close to Fort Clatsop, the winter encampment for the Corps of Discovery (Lewis and Clark Expedition).

Astoria is just a few miles away.
